Year Three

Welcome to our Year 3 class page. Your class teachers are Mrs Melanie Williams on Mondays and Tuesdays, And Mrs Sarah Sinclair on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. They are support by Mr Ollie Brown and Mrs Barna Ahmed.

Useful Information

PE

Our PE Days are Tuesdays and Fridays. We suggest that the children bring their PE kit into school on a Monday and leave it here until Friday, just in case there are any changes. PE kits will go home on a Friday. Please ensure that all items of kit are correctly named.

Reading

Please promote a love of reading and support your child with reading at home. We would like your child to read at least three times a week and record this in their reading diary. In our Guided Reading sessions we will be focussing on a specific book. This will focus on reading together, predicting, summarising, and clarifying any words that we may be unsure of the meaning.

Spelling

Your child will be given 4 spelling words per week to learn at home for a weekly test.

Common Exception Words

The children have Year 3 and Year 4 Common Exception words that do not follow standard phonics rules and must be learnt by sight. By the end of Year 4 the children need to be able to read and spell these words correctly.

Times Tables

Times tables are essential. Please encourage your child to use the Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) app to help them improve their mental maths skills. You child has been given login details to access this. If you have any problems with logging in please contact Mrs Williams or Mrs Sinclair.

Google Classroom

Each child has access to Google classroom. This is where homework will be posted every Monday and your child’s learning preview will be shown.
