Welcome to our Year 4 class page. Your class teacher is Miss Carrie Taylor and she is supported by Miss Jane Ledger and Mrs Laura Parry.

Useful Information

PE

Our PE Days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We suggest that the children bring their PE kit into school on a Monday and leave it here until Friday, just in case there are any changes. PE kits will go home on a Friday. Please ensure that all items of kit are correctly named.

Reading

Please promote a love of reading and support your child with reading at home. We would like your child to read at least three times a week and record this in their reading diary. In our Guided Reading sessions we will be focussing on a specific book. This will focus on reading together, predicting, summarising, and clarifying any words that we may be unsure of the meaning.

Spelling

Your child will be given 4 spelling words per week to learn at home for a weekly test.

Common Exception Words

The children have Year 4 Common Exception words (for Year 3 and Year 4) that do not follow standard phonics rules and must be learnt by sight. By the end of the year the children need to be able to read and spell these words correctly.

Times Tables

Your child will be participating in the National Multiplication Tables Check in June. We will have an information session on this for parents later in the school year. This involves answering 25 questions on times tables up to 12. We will practice our times tables in class using Times Table Rock Stars (TTRS). We kindly ask for children to practice as much as possible at home using this app.

Google Classroom

Each child has access to Google Classroom. This is where homework will be posted every Monday and your child’s learning preview will be shown.
