Useful Information

PE

Our PE Days are Mondays and Wednesdays. We suggest that the children bring their PE kit into school on a Monday and leave it here until Friday, just in case there are any changes. PE kits will go home on a Friday. Please ensure that all items of kit are correctly named.

Reading

Please promote a love of reading and support your child with reading at home. We would like your child to read at least three times a week and record this in their reading diary. In our Guided Reading sessions we will be focussing on a specific book. This will focus on developing our literacy skills including reading comprehension, critical thinking and vocabulary.

Spelling

Your child will be given 4 spelling words per week to learn at home for a weekly test. The Year 5 and 6 statutory spellings include commonly used words, words pupils often misspell, and words that follow more complex spelling patterns. By the end of Key Stage 2, pupils should be able to read, spell, and use these words confidently in their writing.

Times Tables

We build on numbers taught in previous years by extending place value. Your child’s fluency in times tables will really benefit them when multiplying and dividing fractions, and converting into percentages. To ensure the fluency is maintained we would like the children to continue to practice their times tables on TTRS. An addition piece of maths homework will be set on a Monday,

Google Classroom

Each child has access to Google Classroom. This is where homework will be posted every Monday and your child’s learning preview will be shown.
